Many of you have expressed admiration for my work, but I must confess. Many of you would be able to do this kind of work if you had the same resources I have.

First of all, is location. My boat is 25 feet from my office and 7 minutes from my house. . I can see it from my office window. Many of you have traveled several hours each way to your boat just to do an hours work. Now that commands my admiration. I read a blog of a guy that traveled 3 hours each way every week end just to work on his boat.

Second are tools. I have a fully stocked trailer 10 feet from my boat. From routers, planers, compressors  and every hand tool you may imagine, I have in that trailer, including a generator and microwave oven to prepare meals. And a fridge for the cold beer. and stouts. My business has a warehouse with welders, forklifts, spray guns and lots of tools.

A great ladder: I found a used rolling ladder that I have next to the boat. I could not see risking my life on a extension ladder while trying to climb with arms full of tools.

Help. I have a great employee in Jeff. He is a great mechanic and ex body man as well as a painter. His knowledge of fiberglass and paints, electrical and mechanics have been invaluable.  He can frame a house, trim it and make all the kitchen cabinets if needed. Yes, I do my own work, but it is definitely easier when the person helping you can carry his weight and you are not teaching him every day.. He has been a great help.  The good thing is that he is not married and time means nothing to him as long as there is a cold beer, pizza and work to do..

And last an understanding wife.  Since we have been married over 43 years, we cherish the time spent away from each other, specially since we work together.  The boat time is my time and I dont abuse it.  When she says lets go to Costco to shop for groceries,  I jump for joy for the chance to help her and enjoy a delicious hotdog and drink  with her  since I know that this time spent together will buy me brownie points to buy time to use to work  on my boat later on.

In the words of a great  american philosopher:     happy,  happy,  happy.

My boat is 25 feet from my office and 10 feet from my tool trailer. I would call that unfair advantage. My tool trailer is 7x16 with drop down rear door. I have my every day working tools in there.12 volts back up lights and a 500w halogen work light allows for late work.trailer has plenty of storage and work benches.Lot's of drawers . Cant never have enough drawers.I keep a Job Box bolted to the floor and locked. I store all my hand tools in it. I have the same set up on all our work vans and box truck. If, no, when thieves brake into the trailer, and they have several times, they find out that all the tools are stored in a locked box.trailer has a 12v solar panel on the roof that charges a car battery that runs an alarm system with two hilatious sirens, one inside the trailer and one outside along with a cell dialer and GPS on the trailer. This is the best money I spent on this project. This ladder has been a life saver.
My music of the week
That Man by Caro Emerald. This Dutch singer has captured the 30s and 40s sound.  Love her music.

Thank you for visiting my web site. S/V Bonheur is back on the water and sailing the Florida seas as of June 30th, 2013.
This three year dream is complete and I intent to move to my next project shortly.

I have moved the weekly log and pictures to their respective pages and will add more pictures as time passes and find more files.

It has been a very rewarding project and I have made lots of new friends and  learned a lot.

Thanks to Jeff, my trusty helper  for his countless hours and Max, my shadow, for never doubting the outcome.

Saludos a todos.
